Projects: Reclaimed Perception
There exists nothing so precious as vision. It is the crown jewel of perception, our most critical tool for survival. To lose this faculty is to have severed the primary point of connection with our world. There are 217 million people that live with moderate to severe vision impairment. 36 million people are blind. Three out of four of all cases are curable.
These images were made at, around and between eye hospitals in Cambodia and Nepal. They show moments from the process of sight restoration and glimpses of the way that vision controls life on earth. These images waver between clarity and obscurity, but are joined in a collective commentary on vision.
